St. Annes Church, Chapeltown
Flower Festival - 28/29th July 2001

The Flower Festival again this year (22nd)
was a great success with over 70 displays.

Well over 100 sponsors enabled a beautiful array of displays.

The theme this year was Scotch Broth
Places for you to visit, based on the legends from 'north of the border'

A verse was written for the festival by Margaret Forster as follows:.

Myths and legends from north of the border
Bring us the Stone of Scone and Harry Lauder.
The Spirit of the Loch and the Troll Stones,
Burkers and Noddies also Royal Bones.
The Blue Man of The Minch, the Laird of Co,
A Tale of the Sea-Trow and St Mungo.
You will find them all as you wend your way
Among the flowers that are on display.
We hope this year's theme will give you pleasure,
So stand. enjoy and reflect at leisure.
If such myths and legends are still believed,
No wonder the Scots are a canny breed.
