St. Annes Church, Chapeltown
Flower Festival - 29/30th July 2000

The Flower Festival again this year (21st)
was a great success with over 70 displays.

Well over 100 sponsors enabled a beautiful array of displays.

The theme this year was I Didn't Know That

A verse was written for the festival by Margaret Forster as follows:.

I didn't know that folk will say,
As through the years they make their way.
Inventions made in times gone by,
From things on wheels to planes that fly.
Events that happened long ago
Made the country that now we know
So wander round and take a look,
Its better than an history book !

Welcome to our Flower Festival. This year's theme covered the last two hundred years,
starting with the birth of Christ (display No.14). Researching this period led us to say many times
"Well I didn't know that !", hence the title of this year's festival. You may have shared this
sentiment as you looked around, and, we hope, enjoyed our displays.
Thank you, for sharing some time with us here in Turton.
